Let's Talk about Anxiety!
What is anxiety?
Are you anxious? May be you are worried about how you will complete loads of work given by your boss in the office. May be you are nervous about what will be the result of your academics. May be you are really nervous when you are about to give presentation in front of the large audience.
At some point of life, everyone experience anxiety including both adults and children and it is ok to feel little anxious as this a human nature. For some people anxiety come and go and for other people it can last from few minutes to few days. For some people the anxiety may not go away for few days, weeks or months and this is the case where things starts to get worse. It will start to get worsen which in result hinders your personal and professional life. This is the time when personal suffers from anxiety disorder.
According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 1 in 3 of all adolescents ages 13 to 18 will experience an anxiety disorder. People in their adolescent face a lot of changes mentally and physically. They go through so much in their teenage years that they are unable to figure out how to handle the situation and act in a significant way. Therefore, at that time proper mentoring and guidance is very necessary from the parents and the teachers to make them aware about challenges in life.
Also, in the time of this pandemic situation, where so much is happening in the world- people are dying, condition of the economy is worsening day by day, people are losing their jobs; people are suffering from severe anxiety issues and this is the time where people should work on their mental health along with physical health.
Symptoms of anxiety disorder
- Insomnia
- Nervousness, relentless
- Feeling of danger, panic
- Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about.
- Heavy Sweating
- Stammering
- Rapid heart rate
- Rapid breathing
- Shaking and trembling
- Meditate: Give yourself a gift serenity and start your day with 10 minutes of meditation and positive energy. Think calm, measured and open minded and your daily activities will comprehend.
- Stick to a healthy diet: Diet affects anxiety. A morning glass of green juice can get on the right side of calm. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein such as chicken and fish.
- Be knowledgeable: Learn as much as you can about condition and what treatments are available to you so you can make appropriate decisions about your treatment.
- Be social: Isolating yourself from friends and family can actually make your anxiety worse. Make plans with people you like spend time with. Surround yourself with people who make you happy and worthy. Avoid being with people who discourage you and make you feel worthless. Real friends don't do that.
- Accept your anxiety: Figure out what triggers your anxiety and practice the coping strategies you created with your mental healthcare provider so you can best deal with your anxiety when it's triggered.
- Shake things up: Don’t let your anxiety take control of your life. If you feel overwhelmed, break up your day by taking a walk or doing something that will direct your mind away from your worries or fears.
